Steve died suddenly on July 3, 1994, at his home in Villanova, PA.  He was survived by his wife Julie and son.  Steve graduated from the Univ. of Washington in 1968 and in 1979 earned a Master’s in Economics at the Univ. of Michigan.  He completed post-graduate studies at L’Ecole Pratique at the Sorbonne in Paris and Oxford Univ. in England. 

He served two years in Paris with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization then went to work for Smith Barney Harris Upham & Co. in Philadelphia.  Later he formed an investment management company called Chapman Schroeder Group. 

Steve was fluent in French and Mandarin Chinese and traveled worldwide in pursuit of business, social and philanthropic interests.  Tennis, squash and skiing were his sports. (Seattle Times obituary July 7, 1994)
