Jim M Coan

Jim M Coan

James Michael Coan,   August 13, 1947 - March 12, 1996

Jim attended Shoreline CC after high school, where he played football.  He continued on to the UW where he also played football.  His football (not schooling) was interrupted by a two year stint in the army where he was an MP, and had a yearlong visit to Viet Nam.  Upon his return, he followed up and graduated from the UW.

Jim spent most of his working years in the construction field.

Jim married Jill Keeler in 1974, had a daughter Christy, born in 1977, and a son Brady, born in 1980.  Christy and Brady now each have a child of their own.  Christy has Oden James, born Dec. 24th, 2012.  Brady’s son, Emmett Michael, was born Aug. 12, 2012.

Jim volunteered for several organizations including: Camp Fire (camp committee), where he helped in repairing various buildings; Edmonds Ski School, where he was on the board as well as chaperoning the kids every Sat. for several years.  Being the sport enthusiast he was, Jim coached little league football (before his own children were born), as well as softball with Christy and baseball with Brady.

Jim loved the outdoors, bird hunting, camping, hiking, snow skiing, chopping wood, yard work and most anything to keep active and busy!

Jim exercised daily.  He was very fit, and never gained a pound, yet fell to having Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis.  His death was a very sudden event and he is missed daily by all of his family.

Information provided by Jill Keeler (formerly Coan) Steele.  MHS Class of '68.
