Judy and I were good friends at Lynnwood Junior High where she kept her girlfriends entertained with constant angst about her current boyfriend. She was cute, funny and lots of fun to pal around with. Our paths did not cross much at high school but I always regarded her as a friend. My condolences to her family.

Judy was a friend of mine since Fifth Grade at the Alderwood Manor Grade School that was located across from what now is the Lynnwood Convention Center.

Judy and her family moved into a new housing development (Brookwood Park) near my house,  I was delighted because up until then my neighborhood was full of boys.  When Linda Giedt moved in the following year, we became a merry threesome. I remember walking to Lynnwood after school to go to Grocery Boys for ice cream, to Everybody's Department Store to see what was in stock, and my favorite was Ben Franklin to see the craft items.  Sometimes we would wallk to Hiway 99 to a fast food place for cokes and french fries (Simply the best).  Money was ample, we had allowances that started at about 35 cents a week and would babysit for 35 cents an hour in 1959. We were all in Girl Scouts.

Then came boys which made for a lot of drama.  Bless your hearts.  We made good friends of Dave Truax, Bob Baumgartner, Ron Haroldsen, Larry Goldsmith and some other non MHS students.  Then we graduated and went our separate ways.

I kept in contact with Judy and Linda over the years and we  remembered Christmas and birthdays.  Up until the last couple of years due to  her illness, Judy and Sandy Sparks Fox and I would share lunches and dinners. Linda lives in California now.

As Fern stated, Judy was cute, fun and enthusiastic and I miss her laugh.  She could light up any room she entered.

Hey Mary, good to see your comments about your experiences growing up with Judy.  I think the fast food place you were talking about was CC's on the east side of Hwy 99 near Lynnwood Jr High.  Mike Rowe used to clean CC's after they closed.  He got to eat whatever he wanted.  He never gained a pound .

My Dad would always tell my brothers and I the story about your Dad, Tony (I believe).  He said every one thought he was crazy buying all that land along 196th.  Boy were they wrong!  Dad said Tony bought a surplus state school site on 196th which turned out to be the old (still there) Fred Meyer site.  I think Freddy's put Everybody's Department Store out of business.

The old Alderwood Manor stories are fun to hear again.  I go by your old house next to my uncle's old house once in a while and it triggers remembering Mary Romano!

Judy and I had been friends since 7th grade minus the 2 years I was at different schools. I saw her when I was home in July..  She had not changed one bit except for some mobility issues. She still had that one syllable laugh!!!!!  She is gone but not forgotten.

Judith (Judy) Bliss Halvorson Lischke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 14, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith (Judy) Karen Bliss Halvorson Lischke, who passed away peacefully on November 6th at the age of 77. Judy was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Judy was born on June 3rd, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland to Percy (Bud) and Virginia Bliss. With her father serving in the United States coast guard, Judy moved throughout the US as a child. Shortly after graduating from Meadowdale High School, she moved to Edmonds and decided to call the Pacific Northwest home.

Judy is survived by her loving family, including her husband Larry; brother Michael (Suzanne); sister Linda; stepdaughter Jaime; sister-in-law Linda K (Robert); brother-in-law Mike (Tish), and several nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Judy was known for her infectious laugh and sense of humor. She had a passion for reading, trying new recipes, and spending time with her beloved schnauzers. Judy also found fulfillment in volunteering at a local hospital.

A private graveside service will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her honor to a charity close to your heart.

Judy will be missed by all who knew her, through memory and the love she shared with those around her will live on forever.
