Larry Duff was killed in January 2002 in an avalanche in British Columbia that also killed his wife, Georgia Bakke.  Larry was an avid bike racer and hiker.  He also snowboarded, backpacked and skydived.  They had lived in Edmonds where Larry worked as a paralegal.
