Michael James Scott

Michael James Scott, 65, loving husband and father, passed away on September 30, 2012.
He was born January 14, 1947 in Seattle, WA to James and Patricia Scott. Mike attended Meadowdale High School where he excelled in athletics and became a two time state wrestling champion. Shortly after High School he joined the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam as an air traffic controller on the USS Enterprise. He went on to attend Washington State University and, while there, was news director at the local NPR station in Eastern Washington. Upon graduation, he was the recipient of an Edward R. Murrow award.
After college he began his career as a journalist, news director, and nightly news anchor at the Tri-Cities' NBC affiliate, KNDU before moving west in 1979. He then began his 31 year career at the Boeing Company. Mike retired from Boeing in 2010.
Mike loved his family, his church where he was a founding member, and golf which he played and studied voraciously.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Scott; his three children, Brian, Chris, and Alissa Scott; and Janice's children, Matt and Alyssa Pasquini. Mike is also survived by his aunt, Helen Cosgrove; several nieces and nephews; a large extended family; and many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Jim; and his sister, Sharon. 
A memorial service will be held at Cedar Cross United Methodist Church, 1210 132nd Street S.E., Mill Creek, WA 98012, on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cedar Cross United Methodist Church in memory of Mike.
