Karen and twin sister, Carol, were my BFFs since 7th grade when my family moved from Seattle to Lynnwood.  As with most best friends we thought we would remain in each others lives  forever.  We shared clothes, gossip, and our dreams for the future. We were close neighbors and literally joined at the hip.  Our mothers remained best friends so fortunately I would get caught up on what the tiwns were up to once in awhile after I graduated from UW.   Life changes but my rememberances of Karen and Carol and I playing in the woods, stealing apples from "old" lady Anderson, playing in hidden pond, Lynn-O-Rama, and our pact to never were shoes during summer vacation.....always with our trusty dogs by our sides have not been forgotten. I was truly sorry to hear of Karen's loss to cancer.  She will always be in my heart.

In memory of my twin sister Karen Guth (Housler)

Life's path lead Karen south as my path lead me north.

Karen's first daughter Dawnre' born 1971 was with her significant other Jeff. They moved to the Island Hawaii the Big Island on the Kona side. My husband Bill and I visited them regulary, had good adventures.

Karen's second daughter Nicole born 1986 was with her husband Fred. They lived in San Diego and Northern Oregon. Karen's love for Hawaii they ended up living on the Island Hawaii the Big Island on the Kona side. We also spent time visiting with them which was always good.

Karen and I kept in touch and visited each other through the years. I am close to her daughters and visit with them when possible. Dawnre' and her husband Al and son AJ born 2003 live in the San Francisco area. Nicole and her husband Justin live in the Seattle area.

Karen's life was good full of sun and surf.

Dear Carol, I want to thank you so much for sharing Karen's life story.  How joyful it is to know she lived a life full of love and happiness...and as you said "sun and surf."

You both were so active at school...IRL, Tolo, A.B.S. and Firewater.  Telling about Karen's life's adventure just adds to warm memories of you both.
